Internship Program Admissions

Date Program Tables last updated:  8/24/18

Briefly describe in narrative form important information to assist potential applicants in assessing their likely fit with your program. This description must be consistent with the program’s policies on intern selection and practicum and academic preparation requirements:

Our internship is geared toward training skilled generalists within an integrative and multicultural framework. Successful applicants should have a clear interest in working within this model and a desire to engage in such training at a university counseling center. When reviewing applications, emphasis is placed on how the applicant addresses this match. Other important elements of the APPI are carefully reviewed, including all essays, prior training experiences, letters of recommendation, and direct service hours (especially with adults and adolescents).

Competitive candidates will be invited to come to the campus for in-person interviews. These interviews provide the candidates an opportunity to meet our staff, view our facility, and learn more about the theoretical orientations of the clinicians, styles of supervision, professional activities offered, and overall feel of the agency. APPIC matches are contingent upon successful completion of standard criminal background checks. Minority students are encouraged to apply.
